Travel Medicine
- The Health Department is authorized by the Connecticut Department of Public Health as an official Yellow Fever Center. Those receiving the yellow fever vaccine are given the International Certificate of Vaccination. This document is required for those traveling to, or transiting through, certain foreign countries.
- Prescription given for malaria prophylaxis, to be filled at local pharmacy.
- Charges include the cost of vaccine(s) and a $20.00 session fee.
Adult Immunizations
Adults need certain routine vaccines even if they never travel.
- Flu vaccine is recommended yearly for those at risk.
- Pneumonia vaccine is recommended for adults 65 and older, and others at risk.
- Tetanus and diphtheria boosters are recommended every 10 years if an adult has had at least three basic shots.
- Charges include the cost of the vaccine(s) and a $20.00 session fee.
- Meningitis vaccine is available for college-bound students and certain travelers.
